Celebrating my return with a prize giveaway
After an absence of many months, I’m trying to get the My Banjo Life Blog back into swing. I’ve missed interacting with my readers and posting articles. It’s been very gratifying to hear from so many of you that have missed me too! Awww, shucks…let’s hold hands and sing Kumbayah now. Group hug.
The contest…a $25 value!
Let’s get right to the good stuff before we spend a lot of time with the wringing of hands and reminiscing about the old days now that I am back.
I’m giving away a copy of the Banjos Rule Guide To Playing Backup Banjo as a way celebrate my return to blogging and helping beginning banjo players with their picking journey. This is a super easy contest to enter and takes far less skill than picking banjo to win. If you’d like to enter the contest, simply respond to this blog post. That’s it!
The contest drawing will be on September 15, 2010
To respond to this blog post, you’ll have to register first. That’s an easy task and you do that at the bottom of this article. If you’ve already registered in the past, simply sign in! Once you register and/or sign in, then simply return to this article and leave some kind of comment about the post. When you do, your name and email address will go into the hat (or perhaps the banjo case?) for the drawing.
Want an additional chance to win? If you are a Twitter user, retweet this article! There is a button for retweeting on the left side of the screen near the opening of this article. If you re-tweet this article I will see that in your Twitter stream and you’ll have an extra entry!
Alternate prize for those who own the backup guide
If you already purchased my backup course and your name is drawn, then you’ll win a copy of the Banjo Diploma instead. This is a personalized certificate showing that you’ve graduated from a prestigious music school with a doctorate in bluegrass banjo.
Stay tuned for more blog articles, tips, and contests
To say that I’ve been busy is an understatement for sure. I went from posting 3 blog articles per week to shutting down the blog, seemingly overnight. The culprit is my fledgling web design busines. I have the fortunate problem of getting very busy and earning several clients via word of mouth. I’m trying to do the work of 2 or 3 people all by myself, and sometimes that’s a tough row to hoe!
Now that I’ve gotten my feet wet, I’m going to strive to keep things going. I’m promising myself that I’ll write at least one article per week, and more if time allows. Along the way I’ll finish the Foggy Mountain Banjo Series (click that tile to see post #1 in the series) and try to come up with lots of other tips and advice for you.
Don’t forget to say hi (and enter the contest!)
Since article #1 of this blog it’s been a special thrill to hear from my blog readers. There’s no exception to that fact today! So gimme a shout, say howdy, and let my readers and I know what’s been going on with you. You just might win a prize!

And if you have somehow found this article without having seen the details of the contest that I ran, you can follow this link to see what it was all about: Click here to read the article [...]
Nice contest. I really liked your Foggy Mountain Banjo articel, hope to see more.

Hi Strangg1! Thanks for the comment and the compliment. The Foggy Mountain Banjo aricles are on their way again! In the meantime, you are entered in the drawing! Thanks.
Paul,
Glad you’re back in the e-saddle! I’m in need of a Banjo Paul blog booster shot. Plus, that Backup Banjo Guide sounds like a good prize, so count me in. Hey, how’s that running going?
Hey Mike! Great to hear from you and thanks for the reply. You are in the drawing.
Running has tapered off a bit, but I’ll be pounding the pavement again soon. Got pretty busy lately. I need 28 hour days.
Paul,
Welcome back. Where have you been, away at banjo camp? Or maybe out on a banjo cruise. Glad your back are we ready now?
Scooterbluz :-{)
Scooterbluz! Thanks so much for the reply and the welcome back. Work, life, blah blah blah…all these things and more kept me away, but I’m trying to get back in it now.
Thanks dude and you are entered into the drawing!
It’s good to see you back, Paul. I was so lacking for a little humor in my life that, in a desparate move to fill that need, I turned to cable’s comedy channel–CSPAN. I’m really looking forward to hearing more from you in the future. And I hope I win that book. Does it also have section on how to back up trailers or hard drives? And, yes, I will retweet!
Hey Bill, thanks for entering and thanks for missing me! Awww, golly shucks. As far as me providing any humor, well…the jury is still out on that one but I try! Sorry, no instructions on backing up trailers and hard drives. What’s one thing you’ll never hear a banjo player say? “It’s on the C/: drive”. (Get it? Technically challenged?! Never mind…)
By the way, I didn’t see your Tweet for another chance to win…
Put my name in too. Great idea, good marketing tool!!
You’re in there! Woohoo! Hey Bobbie, don’t you use Twitter? If so, go up top and click the retweet button…
I could use all the help I can get
So I’m throwing my hat into the ring. Nice to meetcha!
Hi Katyjeanmachine! Thanks so much for replying and following the blog! I appreciate it. Don’t forget, you can tweet this post using the Twitter “retweet” button up at the top left. This gives you another chance to win! You can also subscribe to this comment thread so that you’ll be notified when more comments are left.
Cheers!
What? You got out? Here I was taking up donations to make bail…….
Good to have you back!
Thanks Steve! And thanks for letting me use you as blog fodder in the blog post that follows this one!
I’ve been following your progress on this for quite a bit of time. As a guy going through some real harsh stuff, getting my banjo restrung and relearning how to play is a priority. It’ll be nice to get a new skill.
-mitch donaberger
Hey Mitch, Thanks for the reply dude. Been awhile since I’ve Twittered with you. Good to know that you might re-string the old banjo and give it a whirl. Keep in touch about your banjo journey! Peace out.
Good to see you are back, have fallen behind in my goal had to have knee replacement and just getting to point to putting the Banjo back on, but time marches on.
Ken Noland
Hey Ken, good to hear from you. So you had knee surgery? Wow, I bet that was tough. So I’m glad to see that you too are back. Looking forward to chatting with you more.
Don’t forget Ken, you can have another chance to enter by tweeting this article. Go up to the top of the page and click on that retweet button on the left side near the beginning of the article.
As one of your devoted followers from the great state of Vifgina, I selfishly declair that it is about %%@@ time you are back to blogging. Having already ordered your backup guide I would like to say the diploma will look nice on the wall of my ramshackle shack
I would also like to know the contents of the “kit” as mentioned above and as it shall be known from this day forward.
– Jimbowe
That is Virginia
Hey Jim! Thanks for the comments. It’s nice to hear from you and I’m pleasantly surprised to know I have a follower, in Virginia or anywhere. I think that brings me up to 4 followers that I know of.
Should you win the drawing, a diploma it is! Stay tuned…
It’s about darn time for you to come back! I was hearing some ugly rumors of you giving up the banjo for other instruments. I kept Googling “AccordianPaul”, and “BagPipePaul” with no luck. I’m glad to hear the rumors were false.
Tim
I was going to suggest Googling “Hip-hop Paul”, but luckily I resurrected the blog in time to stop my pending rap career…
Y’know, I did get a hit when I Googled “DeathMetal Paul” & figured that someone at the Intersection had asked him to do the song from the movie and his brain rotted as a result.
Hey Paul,
Great to see your site come back to life! Can you tab out a break for Kumbayah so I’ll be ready for this sing-a-long? George
George! Great to hear from you! You are entered in the contest, and I’ll get to work on Kumbayah!! L.O.L.
The Michigan nights are getting cooler, Fallfest is around the corner, and bluegrass is in the air as Banjo Paul returns to add his banjo wisdom and twisted sense of humor to the pickin’ community. Can it get any better? Well, come to think of it, if Ban-Joey showed up to the Toxic Banjos Beginner Jam and sang “Elvira”, that’d really make my day. Too bad none of us could play it……but we could help out with the chorus.
Banjotwins Incorporated was just about ready to issue you the Official Banjotwins Incorporated Banjo Instructor Resuscitation Kit.
Welcome back!
Banjotwins Incorporated! Wow, haven’t heard from them in awhile. I shudder to think of that Instructor Resuscitation kit…
Thanks for the comments! You are entered in the contest. See you at Fallfest!
