Banjos Rule Audio Blog Post: George Preiss Plays Deck The Halls

My readers and fans are the best!

I often put out the call to my readers to send me recordings of themselves picking their banjos so that I can feature them on the blog. Today’s blog post features one such recording! Friend and fan George Preiss follows my material religiously and often has questions and suggestions. If you’ve read many of my blog posts, you’ve seen George’s comments and winning ideas for blog posts. Well, today’s article is a direct result of my 12 Days of Christmas Blog Series and the direct invite to you all to record yourself playing the song that I featured during the article series. George took that invite to heart and made a recording!

Let’s get right to the action

There isn’t a lot of need for a bunch of blathering on by me for this article. The recording speaks for itself. George got the tablature to Deck The Halls memorized (available within the blog series mentioned above) and he decided to take the brave step of putting himself out there for all to hear. Here’s George:

How did George do?

Whenever I post an opinion from a reader or use their article idea or put up a sound recording, I always invite your feedback. Both George and I would love to see what you thought. If you leave some comments below, George is sure to see them, and he can even respond to what you write.

Banjos Rule

Well, that’s it for this time around! Not too painful…nice and short. I offer you my continued thanks for being there for me and for continuing to make blogging fun for me. Leave lots of comments below and I’ll look forward to seeing you in the next blog post! Oh, and as I always say: pick ‘em if ya got ‘em! Banjo Paul out.

      Hi Joseba,
I bought a $100 recorder a while back, and it has come in pretty handy. It is a “Zoom H-4″ and came with some pretty easy to read instructions. I’m not too good with understanding audio recording equipment, but I managed to figure this thing out quick. It allows you to record at different quality levels, either plugged in or with the built-in mics.
Recording yourself is good, I think, because it puts pressure on you while you are playing. It is hard to recreate that pressure unless you have an audience in front of you, so it’s kind of like a preparation tool. Also, when you listen back you will certainly hear all of those tempo changes that you make, and where rhythm and tone problems are creeping in. Thanks for asking~ George

Just recently found this blog. I discovered it through your BHO profile. I’ve read it all…took me three days to read them. You have some good stuff in here. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with us. – Don

Wow, Don, I’m honored! I think you may be the first person to ever read all of the posts…there should be some kind of prize for that. But thanks much. As you can see, I’m not always the wittiest guy and don’t always have a great writing style, and some of the posts were “throwaways”, but I do try and I have fun with this here little blog. Thanks again!

Thanks Don. I was actually a bit embarrassed when I listened back to it, but I guess I’ve got 11 months to get my Deck The Halls in better shape. Take it easy~ George
