Ah yes, the eternal argument over tone rings. If you’ve hung around the banjo for very long, then you can’t have missed all the talk that goes on about them. One of my Facebook friends forwarded me a link to the video below on YouTube, and I find this video does the perfect job of summing up tone rings!

I love the part where the banjo is said to be the heaviest musical instrument that doesn’t have to be moved with a fork lift. This is really good:
