Funny enough like you I have been getting a deeper understanding and love for Earl's music. I have watched a ton of utube videos and am slowly working my way through FMB. I've noticed he plays it in a simple but fee flowing way and doesn't over complicate it with licks and embelishments, just amazing skill and panache. Now that's how I want to play. I'm looking forward to my trip to Michigan and practising backup like crazy. Am also looking forward to meeting you in person.
