(Report from the field) My group Black Canyon just got done playing the St. Mary’s International Community Festival in downtown Grand Rapids, and we’ve discovered a great way to be sure and have a large audience: play just before a Mexican folk dance troupe! This performance tent is packed to capacity, full of people who appear to be fanning themselves while we play, while in actuality they are checking their watches every 15 seconds to see how much longer until we’re done! Gotta love it.
